A woman says she was sexually assaulted by a masseur earlier this month at a Glover Park massage parlor who has fled the country.
News4’s Shomari Stone spoke with the woman Wednesday, who wanted to remain anonymous.
She said it all began when a friend gave her a Groupon for a massage at Massage Escape Spa in the 2300 block of Wisconsin Avenue NW.
She went in for the appointment Oct. 4, where her masseur — who has now been identified as Zhenkai Tong — massaged her neck and back for approximately 30 minutes, then sexually assaulted her.
“My first thought was, ‘Am I going to die here?’ I felt that literally nobody knew where I was,” she said.
She said she then yelled for Tong to stop. According to a police report, Tong then said, “It’s OK. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.”
“I didn’t believe he was sorry. I thought he was trying to manipulate the situation,” she said.
She said she called 911 in the lobby of the massage parlor. Tong was arrested after admitting to the sexual assault.
Tong was released and a judge ordered he hand over his passport. Before he turned it in though, he flew to China. The U.S. doesn’t have an extradition treaty with mainland China and a felony warrant is out for Tong’s arrest.
Massage Escape Spa’s manager refused to talk on camera, but admitted Tong is not a licensed massage therapist in D.C.
