Penn State and the Catholic Church Priest Sex Abuse Scandals have shone a light on the horrors and prevalence of sexual abuse.  Some experts have estimated that 1 in 10 children will be sexually abused before the age of 18.  Nearly all of those victims will remain silent about the abuse.  Child sexual abuse is not limited to the Catholic Church, coaches, teachers, day care workers, camp counselors can be sex offenders.  Many sex offenders will assault multiple victims.  But, children are also at risk for abuse by older, more powerful children.  This typically occurs in foster care. In some cases, those that are in a position to protect children turn a blind eye and allow the abuse to continue.
